Your future role in a few words

  • Participate in the planning and sourcing of resources for peatland openings and restoration
  • Participate in the coordination of good maintenance and monitoring of water quality during the operating season
  • Establish and maintain strong business relationships with various internal and external stakeholders — various government divisions, First Nations and Internal quality and Innovation teams
  • Participate in maintaining Veriflora certification through audits, ensuring that the requirements are met
  • Adapt to changing bog procedures and operations as well as harvesting or restoration practises
  • Share best practices and knowledge surrounding the peatland environment
  • Participate in wildlife monitoring and mitigation planning, especially with the woodland caribou habitat
  • Work outdoors in a variety of landscapes and weather conditions
  • Travel locally as well as inter-provincially and drive in different road and weather conditions such as gravel and bog roads — on a regular basis

Required skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in natural resources, forestry, plant science, soil science, geography or biology — or relevant experience
  • Experience or an interest in wildlife tracking or monitoring
  • Vegetation and soil surveying experience
  • Knowledge of mapping software — QGIS or ArcMap GIS
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently or in teams
  • Good adaptation skills
